It encompasses an art studio, exhibitions by artists with disabilities, research, and professional training. Artist-teachers are practicing artists. The center was founded and implemented by an artist and a psychologist. At least 21 similar centers have used this approach in providing community-based creative art experiences for individuals with disabilities.
